This notice is provided in accordance with state and federal regulations to conduct Child Find activities, ensuring the identification of students who may require an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services.
The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District (DYRSD) is responsible for identifying any child who may have a disability and resides within the district or attends a private school within its geographic boundaries, regardless of residency. This also includes students who are homeschooled.
DYRSD is also responsible for evaluating these students to determine eligibility for special education or related services under federal law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Massachusetts state law, 603 CMR 28 (Massachusetts Special Education Regulations).
Additionally, DYRSD is committed to identifying children before their third birthday to provide early intervention services for three- and four-year-olds with disabilities. If you have concerns about your child's development and would like to request a screening, please contact the Dennis-Yarmouth Early Education Program.
If you suspect that your child may need an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services, you may request an evaluation at no cost through the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District Student Services Department.
